Our course, Designing SharePoint Enterprise Content
Management and Records Management Systems (formerly Creating SharePoint Document Management Systems),
is one of the most practical and effective that we offer. This course takes
you from square one to SharePoint Content Management Power User in just 4
days. And if that weren’t enough, I've just confirmed that you can do it
all in Office 365 too!
Microsoft continues to push Office
365. Whether your
organization should or should not migrate to the cloud is up for debate. The
needs and budgetary constraints of each organization are different, and you’ll
need to make your own decision on that.
What IS certain is that you need to
know how to use the Content Management features of SharePoint or Office 365,
regardless of which you use.
Office 365 SharePoint (or SharePoint
Online) does not allow you complete access to the same level of control that
SharePoint on-premises allows. Office 365 is a multi-tenant cloud-hosted environment
with many implementations of SharePoint for different organizations stored on
the same servers. This restricted level of access is required to keep
information secure.
Fortunately, though, SharePoint’s Content
Management features don't require that elevated level of access! Office
365 can provide you the same level of Content Management that SharePoint 2010
or 2013 can provide. This will afford you powerful capabilities like time-based
movement of files, automated filing based on metadata, record declaration, and
legal holds based on content within documents.
If you have a need to drive content
or document management in your Office 365 environment, I urge you to take a
look at our Designing SharePoint Enterprise Content
Management and Records Management Systems course to get started today. See how much more Office
365 could be doing for you.
